# Add review snippet structured data

Review snippets require a Review or AggregateRating attached to a specific item such as Product, Recipe or LocalBusiness. Provide ratingValue and reviewCount or ratingCount, keep the visible rating identical, and never mark up self-serving reviews on your own Organization.

## Prerequisites

- A review collection system
- Access to product or location templates

## Steps

1. **Confirm eligibility** — Check that the page describes a specific item and that reviews come from real customers. Remove self-serving Organization reviews from scope.
   Check: Every page in scope has at least one verified customer review and describes a single item.
2. **Emit AggregateRating from review data** — Compute ratingValue and reviewCount from stored reviews. Include bestRating and worstRating when the scale differs from 1 to 5.
   Check: The markup values equal the visible rating and count rendered on the page.
3. **Validate and audit** — Run the Rich Results Test on three pages and review the review snippet enhancement report for invalid items.
   Check: Rich Results Test reports valid review snippets and the enhancement report has no errors.
