# Audit NAP and service consistency across local listings

Make the business's name, address, phone, hours and services identical on Google Business Profile, the site footer and contact page, and every directory listing. Contradictions between sources make it hard for search and AI systems to describe the business, so resolving them protects both map visibility and AI recommendations.

## Prerequisites

- Access to the Google Business Profile
- A list of existing directory, social and map listings
- Access to the site's footer and contact page templates

## Steps

1. **Collect every listing URL** — Open a Claude project and paste the URLs of every place the business exists online: the Google Business Profile, the site footer and contact page, Facebook, Instagram, Yelp, Apple Maps, Bing Places, the directories the business is listed in, and the trade or industry sites it appears on.
Check: The pasted list contains the Google Business Profile plus at least five other source URLs.
2. **Build one row per listing** *(general best practice)* — Ask for a table with one row per listing and columns for name, address, phone, opening hours, services, opening date and source URL. Flag every row that disagrees with the canonical business data.
Check: Each mismatch row shows both the canonical value and the conflicting value with the URL where the wrong value appears.
3. **Fix the table top to bottom** — Work down the table, correcting the Google Business Profile and the site footer and contact page first, then each external directory and social profile so it repeats the same name, address, phone and hours.
Check: Open three of the corrected listings and confirm the name, address, phone and hours match the Google Business Profile exactly.
4. **Align the services listed** *(general best practice)* — Compare the services named on the profile with the services described on the site. If the profile claims a service the site never mentions, add that service to the relevant page or remove the claim from the profile.
Check: Every service phrase on the Google Business Profile also appears on a live page of the site.
5. **Check the map pin position** *(general best practice)* — Open the profile location in Google Maps and switch to satellite view to confirm the pin sits on the building entrance, then move it if it has drifted.
Check: In satellite view the pin marker sits on the building entrance rather than a street, car park or neighbouring unit.
6. **Fill the opening date field** — Enter the business opening date in the profile field that records how long the business has existed.
Check: The profile shows a populated opening date instead of an empty field.
7. **Confirm the primary category** *(general best practice)* — Review the primary category against the core service the business sells and change it if it describes a secondary activity.
Check: The Google Business Profile dashboard lists the intended category as the primary one.
