# Build a keyword-targeted free tool page with on-page SEO

Create a small free tool aimed at a single keyword: no signup, result shown instantly, mobile-friendly layout, one call to action into the product. Then complete the page's on-page SEO with a keyword-led title, meta description, H1, an FAQ block, JSON-LD schema and internal links from relevant pages.

## Prerequisites

- A product URL and a chosen target keyword
- Ability to deploy a new page or template on the site
- Access to Claude Code or a comparable code-generation tool

## Steps

1. **Choose the keyword and the tool output** — Pick one keyword with tool-shaped intent (a calculator, checker, converter or generator) and write down the single input the visitor gives and the result the page returns.
Check: A one-line spec exists naming the target keyword, the input field and the output the page renders.
2. **Build the tool so the result needs no signup** — Implement the tool so the result appears immediately after the input, with a mobile-first layout and exactly one call to action pointing at the product.
Check: Loading the page on a phone-width viewport returns a result without a login wall and shows exactly one product CTA link.
3. **Add the on-page elements** — Set a title tag and meta description containing the target keyword, one H1 that names the tool, and short copy explaining the result plus an FAQ block answering related questions.
Check: View-source shows a unique title tag, a meta description, exactly one H1 and at least three visible FAQ questions.
4. **Add JSON-LD structured data** *(general best practice)* — Mark the page up as a WebApplication or SoftwareApplication whose name and description match the visible H1 and copy.
Check: The Rich Results Test or Schema Markup Validator parses the page without errors and reports the application type.
5. **Link to the tool from related pages** — Add contextual internal links to the tool page from the most relevant product, blog or documentation pages, using descriptive anchor text that includes the keyword.
Check: A site: search or a crawl shows at least three internal links pointing at the tool URL with non-generic anchors.
6. **Validate and request indexing** *(general best practice)* — Check the canonical tag is self-referencing, confirm the page is reachable in robots.txt, then submit the URL in Search Console.
Check: Search Console URL Inspection reports the URL as crawled and indexed, and the page source shows a self-referencing rel=canonical.
