# Find 50 customer queries and match the SERP format

Write down 50 searches a customer would type to find a business like yours, Google each one, and study which pages rank and why. Note the search intent and the content format the ranking pages share, then reuse that format on your own page so it matches what the engine already rewards for the query.

## Prerequisites

- Access to customer emails, sales calls or support tickets to source real phrasings
- A spreadsheet to record queries, ranking URLs and formats

## Steps

1. **Write down 50 customer searches** — List 50 queries a customer would type into Google to find a business, product or answer like yours, using the wording customers actually use rather than internal product names.
Check: A document or sheet holds 50 distinct queries, none of them branded navigational searches for your own site.
2. **Google every query and record the top results** — Run each query on Google and record the top three organic URLs plus any SERP features (local pack, video, images, featured snippet) shown for it.
Check: Every row in the sheet has at least three recorded URLs or an explicit note that a SERP feature occupies the top.
3. **Label the search intent of each query** — For each query, note the intent the ranking pages reveal: informational, commercial investigation, transactional or local.
Check: Each query row carries one intent label, and queries with mixed results are flagged for review.
4. **Note the format the ranking pages share** — Describe the dominant format of the top results: listicle, comparison page, how-to guide, service page, product page, video. Include the typical length and the sections they all cover.
Check: Each query row names a single dominant format and at least two ranking pages that use it.
5. **Record the audit in a consistent schema** *(general best practice)* — Standardise the columns so the audit can be filtered and triaged later instead of living in scattered notes.
Check: The sheet header matches the expected columns and sorting by intent works.
6. **Rebuild or create your page in the winning format** — For each query where you have or want a page, produce it in the dominant format and cover the sections the ranking pages share, keeping your own data and examples.
Check: The published page matches the recorded format and covers every section listed during the audit.
