# Improve pages ranking 11-20 with title and H1 rewrites

Pull the keywords a site ranks 11-20 for, keep those with 50+ monthly searches and existing Search Console impressions, group them by landing page, then rewrite each page's title, meta description and H1 around its top three queries. The work targets pages Google already finds relevant but that earn no clicks on page two.

## Prerequisites

- DataForSEO API credentials
- Search Console property verified with Performance data
- Access to the site's title, meta description and H1 fields
- Claude Code or a comparable script to fetch and audit live pages

## Steps

1. **Pull every ranked keyword from DataForSEO** — Query the DataForSEO ranked keywords API for the target domain and export keyword, ranking position and monthly search volume for each row.
Check: The export contains a position column and a search volume column for each keyword.
2. **Filter to positions 11-20 with 50+ searches** — Keep only rows where the position is between 11 and 20 and monthly search volume is at least 50.
Check: Every remaining row has a position of 11-20 and a volume of 50 or higher.
3. **Cross-check against Search Console impressions** — Compare the filtered keywords with the queries in the Search Console Performance report over the last three months, and keep only queries that already record impressions.
Check: Each keyword on the final list appears in the Search Console query export with impressions greater than zero.
4. **Group the keywords by landing page** — Use the Search Console Pages data to map each keyword to the URL that ranks for it, then sort the list so the page carrying most of the near-miss queries is obvious.
Check: The working sheet shows a keyword-to-URL pair for every row and identifies the dominant URL.
5. **Audit the live page with Claude Code** — Have Claude Code fetch the live URL and report the number of H1 tags, the title and meta description lengths, and whether the page uses the search wording. Google cuts meta descriptions around 155 characters.
Check: The audit output lists an H1 count, title length, meta description length and the query terms missing from the page.
6. **Rewrite title, meta and H1 around the top three keywords** — Draft a new title, meta description and single H1 built on the page's three strongest keywords, and record the old and new values side by side.
Check: A before-and-after table lists the old and new title, meta description and H1 for the page.
7. **Ship the change and confirm the rendered tags** — Publish the rewritten fields and load the live URL to confirm the new values are the ones served to crawlers.
Check: View-source of the live URL shows the new title, meta description and exactly one H1.
8. **Track positions weekly in Search Console** — Filter the Search Console Performance report to the tracked queries and record average position each week to see whether the rewrite moved the page.
Check: The weekly Performance export shows an average position value per tracked query for the current week.
