# Keep schema consistent with page content

Structured data must describe what the page shows. Generate JSON-LD from the same data that renders the page, remove properties you cannot keep accurate, and revalidate after redesigns. Stale markup after a migration is the most common source of errors.

## Prerequisites

- An inventory of emitted schema types
- Access to templates and the CMS

## Steps

1. **Compare markup with the visible page** — For each template, extract the JSON-LD and compare critical values (price, rating, availability, dates) with what the page displays.
Check: A comparison table lists each critical property and whether it matches the visible page.
2. **Remove or generate from source** — Delete hand-written values and generate the block from the same object used for rendering. Remove properties with no real data.
Check: The markup values are produced by the same function or query that renders the page.
3. **Guard against drift** *(general best practice)* — Add a check that fails when a template emits no JSON-LD or emits duplicate blocks, and revalidate after each release.
Check: The build fails when a page type loses its JSON-LD block or duplicates a property.
