# Rebuild store pages per country instead of translating

For each new country, collect the local-language terms buyers use for your top collections with volume data, flag where a literal translation is not the searched term, and rewrite those pages and collections around the local queries. The products stay the same; the wording matches local demand.

## Prerequisites

- Access to the store's collection and product templates
- A keyword source that returns monthly volume by country and language
- A defined target country and the collections to localize

## Steps

1. **Pull local keywords for the top collections** — For the target country, request the terms buyers use for the top five collections, in the local language and with monthly search volume, from a keyword tool or an assistant that returns search data.
Check: A keyword list exists for each of the five collections, each row carrying the local-language term and a monthly volume value.
2. **Flag literal-translation mismatches** — Translate each source-language keyword literally, compare it with the local term found in step 1, and record every case where the two differ. This list is the set of pages a translation would have got wrong.
Check: Every flagged keyword row shows both the literal translation and the actual local term, and the mismatches are marked.
3. **Identify the local competitors** — For each keyword, name the three competitors ranking in the top five in the target country, not the competitors from the home market.
Check: Each keyword row lists three domains observed in the top five results of a search on the target country's Google domain in the local language.
4. **Rewrite pages and collections for the local queries** — Change collection names, titles, H1s, meta descriptions and body copy to the local terms rather than the translated ones, keeping the same products and structure.
Check: The rendered title and H1 of each collection contain the local term from step 1, and searching that term on the country's Google domain returns the page.
5. **Publish local guide and comparison pages** — Build buying-guide and comparison pages in the local language aimed at the competitors found in step 3, linking to the corresponding local collections.
Check: Each guide and comparison page returns HTTP 200 on the country version and contains at least one internal link to a localized collection.
6. **Add reciprocal hreflang between country versions** *(general best practice)* — Emit an alternate hreflang tag for every country version of a page on each version, including a self-reference and an x-default.
Check: View-source on each country URL shows the full set of hreflang alternates, and every referenced URL returns 200.
7. **Track orders by country in GA4** *(general best practice)* — Segment orders and sessions by country in GA4 so the new markets can be compared with the home market over time.
Check: The GA4 reports show a country dimension with order and session counts for each localized market.
