# Remove deprecated schema

Rich result support changes. FAQPage is limited to authoritative government and health sites, HowTo rich results were retired, and data-vocabulary is obsolete. Remove markup for features you no longer qualify for, keep useful visible content, and check enhancement reports for items that stopped being valid.

## Prerequisites

- An inventory of emitted JSON-LD types
- Search Console enhancement reports

## Steps

1. **Inventory emitted types** *(general best practice)* — Search templates for application/ld+json and list each @type with the template that emits it. Include plugin output.
   Check: The inventory lists every @type found in rendered pages with its template or plugin source.
2. **Remove ineligible markup** — Delete FAQPage and HowTo blocks where the feature is unavailable, and replace data-vocabulary types with schema.org equivalents.
   Check: Sampled pages no longer contain FAQPage, HowTo or data-vocabulary.org references.
3. **Re-validate and monitor** — Run the Rich Results Test on affected templates and check enhancement reports for new errors after removal.
   Check: Affected templates validate without errors and enhancement reports show no invalid items.
