# Set up Search Console and GA4

Search Console reports what Google sees; GA4 reports what happens after the click. Verify a domain property, submit sitemaps, link the GA4 property, configure consent mode and key events, and review both monthly for snippet and intent problems.

## Prerequisites

- DNS access for domain verification
- GA4 property access

## Steps

1. **Verify the domain property** — Add a domain property in Search Console and verify with a DNS TXT record so all hosts and protocols are covered. Submit the sitemap.
Check: The domain property shows verified status and lists the sitemap as Success.
2. **Link GA4 and define key events** — Link the GA4 property to Search Console, define key events for sign-up, purchase and contact, and configure consent mode where required.
Check: GA4 shows Search Console data, at least three key events are firing, and consent mode is active.
3. **Set a monthly review** *(general best practice)* — Review queries, index status and conversions together. Document which report answers which question and who acts on it.
Check: A monthly review document exists with the questions, reports and owners.
